It is with great pride and pleasure that I am able to announce that Wallington High School for Girls has met the criteria for re-designation of Engineering Specialist Status and for becoming a High Performing Specialist School.
Following our Ofsted inspection and the submission of our School Improvement Plan for the next three years, I have received two letters from the DCSF. The first letter informed me that the school has met the performance criteria for re-designation as an Engineering Specialist School. We are now guaranteed our Specialist School funding until our next Ofsted inspection.
The second letter was sent to inform me that we have met the 2008 High Performing Specialist Schools (HPSS) criteria. We will now be able to apply to take on an additional Specialism and will be provided with guidance and the available additional specialist roles in the near future. As a school we would like to be able to take on a Specialism which would contrast with that of Engineering to be able to offer a new range of very different opportunities for our diverse student population.
My sincere thanks go to all staff, students, governors, parents and members of the community for all their continued support and enthusiasm for the school and in particular our Engineering school status, all of which have contributed to these wonderful successes. |
