Welcome to the Careers

Makers of the Future Programme
Careers and Work Related Learning

We are fully committed to supporting your daughter’s future choices.  Makers of the Future: Careers and Work related learning programme is designed to ensure all students experience an insight into the world of work and the range of career paths and choices available to them.

Our independent careers advisor supports our programme by providing your daughter with impartial advice and guidance through one-to-one careers interviews, assemblies and group work.  Parents/carers are welcome to attend careers interviews by prior arrangement with the school.  Our online programme, Fast Tomato, is introduced to students in Year 8 to encourage them to start thinking about the variety of careers paths open to them.

In Year 9 Fast Tomato will be used to support their choices for GCSE. Students will also learn about the world of work through work experience, enterprising activities and by taking part in the national programme: Daughter’s to Work day.  Students will take part in a week of work experience in Years 11 and 12.  Students are expected to find their own placements but help and advice is always available from the Careers and Work Experience

Annually we host our WHSG Makers of the Future Careers Fair where students and parents get to meet representatives from industries and attend workshops about innovative career paths from members of our community and ex- students.
