Catch Up Premium
In September 2020 WHSG received Catch-Up Premium funding from the government. This was provided to all schools to help alleviate any issues that have arisen from the COVID-19 pandemic, in terms of students falling behind with the curriculum. This funding covers September 2020 – July 2022.
Having done extensive research, as well as surveying our departments, guidance was put together on how the funds should be allocated and shared with staff.
Both the national picture and the results from the survey identified the following groups as most in need.
- Disadvantaged Students
- Exam Classes
- Practical Subjects
Money was allocated to each department and they have been asked to bid for the use of funds, with all allocation for catch up purposes being authorised by a member of SLT.
Money will be spent on a wide range of curriculum needs including but not limited to;
- Resources that students can use in and out of class to revisit material e.g. textbooks
- Equipment that is needed in lessons to facilitate our new timetable and operational arrangements.
- Targeted tutoring in small groups or 1 to 1.
- Pastoral provision.
- Online software and remote technology.
All catch up provision will be targeted and funds will only be released when the budget holder is happy with the justification. The impact will be monitored by analysing internal and external assessment measures as well as other judgements made by departments. This will be reported upon at the end of the process.
Clearly, the situation is constantly changing and therefore the allocation of funds will be monitored and amended accordingly.
